Walgreens: Spent $1.16 to get $9.20 of merchandise!

A lot of great sales at Walgreens this week!

Colgate 360 Surround Toothbrush $2.99 - $1 MFR coupon + $2 RR for next time!

I wanted to get the Wal-Fex allergy relief ($3.99 + $3.99 RR back), but the cashier said there was some sort of error on the manufacturer's part and the store only got 6 boxes in. Their rain checks are good for the sale price, but I wouldn't be able to get Register Rewards back, so I decided not to bother with it. I'll check back Thursday; that's when he said the next shipment will be in!

My total was $9.20, and after coupons and my Register Rewards from last week, I paid only $1.16. Plus, I can mail in the rebate form for the Bayer Advanced Asprin and get $1 back from Bayer as well!

I had to add the Twix bar, because in order to use my $5 register rewards from last week, I had to have four items. I should have grabbed one of the ten cent highlighters from the clearance section, but there were people in line behind me and I didn't want to hold up the line. Oh well... lesson learned! Now I know for next time.

Summer of Savings: First Haul

This is my first haul! After traveling to three different stores (Walgreens, Dollar General and Family Dollar), I have spent about $12 and gotten back $2 on Walgreens Register Rewards for my next trip. This doesn't hold a candle to those talented but crazy "Extreme Couponing" women on that TLC TV show, but I think I did pretty well for my first try!


Walgreens:
5 boxes of Royal Geletin 1.4 oz, 5/$1 (store sale) - $.20 each
3 cans of Bumble Bee Tuna 5 oz , originally $1.29 but $.69 each with Walgreens coupon
2 cans of Quaker Oats 18 oz, 2/$3.19 (store sale) - $1.60 each
2 bags of Act II popcorn 3 oz, $.25 each (store sale)
1 can Illy coffee 8.45 fl. oz. $2, + $2 Register Rewards for my next purchase!

Dollar General:
2 bottles of Pine Sol 28 oz - originally $2 but on sale for $1.75, plus $1.00 MFR coupon - .$75 each
5 packets of Kool-Aid 5/$1 (store sale), + $.50 off purchase of 5 MFR coupon - $.10 each

Family Dollar:
1 bottle of Family Dollar Brand Bleach 174 oz, $2.50 store sale + $.25 off store coupon plus 10% off memorial day coupon (for families of military men or women) - $2.00


The cleaning supplies are going straight to a church saving up supplies to send down to the disaster relief for the recent sweep of tornadoes in the South, and the non-perishable food items are all going to my own church's food pantry. And, as for the coffee, I'm keeping that for myself as a little treat. Hey, after the Register Rewards, it was free!

My church is collecting non-perishables for underprivileged families in the area who can't afford to feed their kids over the summer. They get a discounted lunch rate at school, but during the summer, that's not there anymore. I think this cause is really cool, so I'm glad I get to help while getting the thrill of shopping for a bargain as well!
